Yet another scion of Wellingon Yee Chew and Patricia Howe Chew became a Judge in El Paso County this past Wednesday, January 4, 2011. Newmanista, Patricia Chew, was sworn in by her brother, Chief Justice David Chew, as presiding Judge of Probate Court 1. Winning the overwhelming endorsement of El Paso's legal community, Pat easily defeated her opponent in last spring's Democratic primary. She ran unopposed in the November general election. Sister, Linda Chew, presiding Judge of the 327th District Court, swore in the staff of Probate Court 1. Honored guests such as Queta "La Liz" Fierra and Ramona "Monchie" Torres joined a packed ceremonial court on the 12th floor of the El Paso County building to be present as Patricia Chew was sworn-in.
